Terms and conditions
1. Who we are
The Daily Throne is operated by Alejandro Ismael Rodríguez Donaire, tax ID (NIF) 76752476G, Avenida Antonio Gaudí 17, 29004 Málaga, Spain. Contact: king@thedailythrone.com.
2. What you are buying
The Daily Throne shows one single sentence to the whole world, together with its author's name, city (optional) and signature. By paying you buy the display of your sentence on the throne from the moment it is published until someone else pays the price required at that time, which can happen at any moment, even seconds later. You are not buying a minimum period of time, a prize, or a chance to win anything. Being the highest bid when a round ends earns you a place among the round's Champions in the Hall of Kings, which is a public record, not a prize.
While the throne is empty (which only happens before the very first king in history, or if every reign is removed), taking it is free: nothing is bought and no payment is made.
3. Who can use it
You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter into a contract. By taking the throne you confirm both. If we find that a payment was made by a minor, we remove the sentence and refund the payment.
4. Price
- The throne is played in rounds of 24 hours that end at 00:00 UTC.
- Each round starts at $1. Every bid must be at least $1 more than the highest bid of that round. The price never drops during a round.
- Anti-sniping: if a bid is accepted in the last 5 minutes of a round, the round is extended so that 5 minutes remain.
- When the round ends, the highest bid wins it. That sentence stays on the throne until someone bids in the next round, which starts again at $1. If nobody bids, it simply keeps reigning.
- Prices are shown in US dollars and include any applicable taxes. Your bank may charge a currency conversion fee on top.
5. Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card is first authorised and only charged if your sentence actually reaches the throne. If someone takes it a moment before you, or the round ends before your payment is confirmed, the authorisation is released and nothing is charged. We never see or store your card details.
6. Content rules
Sentences, names, cities and signatures may not contain: illegal content; insults, harassment or hate; threats or incitement to violence or self-harm; sexual content; other people's personal data; links, contact details or advertising; content that infringes third-party rights.
Content is checked automatically (word filters and AI moderation) before payment, and may be reviewed and removed afterwards. If the automatic review is unavailable at that moment, nothing is published and nothing is charged.
We may remove any reign. If it is removed for breaking these rules, the amount paid is refunded to the same payment method. Anyone can report a sentence from the throne itself or by writing to king@thedailythrone.com.
You confirm that the sentence and the signature are yours and you grant us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to display them on The Daily Throne, in the Hall of Kings and on our own channels.
7. Right of withdrawal
Your sentence is published immediately after payment. By ticking the corresponding box you expressly request immediate performance of the service and acknowledge that, once it has been fully performed, you lose your right of withdrawal (article 103.a of Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007, implementing Directive 2011/83/EU).
8. Liability and governing law
The service is provided "as is" and may be interrupted for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control. We are not responsible for the opinions users publish, without prejudice to our duty to remove illegal content we become aware of.
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights granted to you by the law of your country of residence and you may bring proceedings before the courts of your own domicile. Before that, please write to king@thedailythrone.com: we aim to resolve any complaint within 14 days. If you live in the European Union you may also contact your national consumer authority or the European Consumer Centre. (The EU online dispute resolution platform stopped operating on 20 July 2025.)
